This is a sequel to MAGIC BRIDGE, which is a stand-alone read, but it is essential that they be read in order. BRIDGE OF FIRE is a stand-alone book, too, but the reader would miss a lot by not knowing the full history of the main characters.Thomasina Burke delivers another great read -- a story with substance. Her well-drawn characters have such enormous depth and color, that I find myself wondering how a writer conveys this simply by wrapping it into the story. Not being a writer, myself, I have no way of analyzing how this might be done; I think it's simply a gift and is beyond analysis. The storyline is as unique as the characters, taking place in Arizona and on a Caribbean Island in Honduras. We get a wonderful taste of both cultures. Part of the story is about a forest fire in the Bradshaw Mts. of AZ, and the descriptive writing placed me there in the midst of the emergency workers. (The fire depicted here did, in fact, occur as presented in the story.) Heartwarming, heart-wrenching, thought-provoking and deeply touching, this story inspired me to reflect on life -- and my own life. As with the first book, a life-changing read.
The book cover is exquisite! These characters and these stories will stay with me for a very long time.

I love this book as well as the first one, "Magic Bridge" Thomasina is an excellent writer and will be very successful in her writing career. Her use of descriptive words is astounding. Her vocabulary is amazing, and her details to emotions are so powerful I actually find myself crying along with the characters. Love Thomasina Burkes work

After reading Magic Bridge, I couldn't wait to read it's sequel. I enjoyed this book almost as much as the first one. There were too many story-lines which took away from the main characters but the friendships were still solid. I liked the fact that a lot of good came out of a tragic situation. I would recommend this sequel also.
I read her first book, MAGIC BRIDGE, which was another 5 star! She has a way with words and flow. There are not many books that I don't want to end, but this was one of them. Being from Prescott, AZ., I'm familiar with the places she speaks of in her book, and I recall the fire. I'm once again getting the hunger to make the trek to Crown King. Without giving anything away, I'm also not the type to get teary over a book, but the part of this story regarding the little orphan, got me, and they're HAPPY tears! I can't wait for the next "magic" adventure! Her books have depth and substance, and I gain much insight from them for my own life. Bring on the next one!!
A continuation of Magic Bridge, and following the ongoing story of Bridgette Decker and her friends. In this story one goes between the Island of Roatan, in Honduras where learning to dive, an orphan and orphanage come into play and also Arizona where Bridgette is from and where a wild fire burns out of control, near her weekend home up in the mountains. This book is again full of great characters, who are learning to move forward, to trust and love again and to know the true meaning of friendship. Beautifully told, which kept me wanting to read and find out what happened.
The book seems to be set up for a third installment, but either of the first two could be read independent of the other. I cannot wait to see what happens.
